Our friendly team is always eager to welcome new patients to the practice. We are very proud of the fact that our existing patients often recommend us to their friends, family and work colleagues. In fact, the majority of our new patients have resulted from personal referrals.

We strongly believe that you are more than just a set of teeth. Good dental health is an integral part of your general well being. With this in mind, as well as the usual tips on effective brushing and flossing, we can also offer advice on diet and stopping smoking.

Your first appointment will last around 30 minutes. This time will enable your dentist to thoroughly check the condition of your mouth, teeth and gums, as well as a host of other aspects of your oral health – all of which influence your general well-being. This appointment will include 10- point clinical assessments as follows.

YOUR 10 POINT DENTAL HEALTH EXAMINATION

1) YOUR QUESTIONS / CONCERNS
We ask you how healthy you feel your teeth and gums are. Do you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with us?

2) MEDICAL DETAILS
Your general health is important to us as it could affect the health of your teeth and gums. We ask you about any medical conditions or medications you may be taking.

3) AESTHETICS
Are you happy with the appearance of your smile? How do you feel about the shape and colour of your teeth and fillings? Photographs may be done as they are essential for treatment planning and a great communication tool to use with our laboratory when assessing facial shape and symmetry

4) TEETH
We examine your teeth to ensure there are no signs of decay, damage, wear or chips.

5) GUMS & PRESENCE OF PLAQUE
We carefully monitor the health of your gums and check that there is no plaque on your teeth. Hard plaque can build up between visits and is the main cause of tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss. It is important to detect gum disease in its early stages, as this is a risk factor for heart disease.

6) EXISTING DENTAL WORK
We examine your fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures to ensure they are stable and healthy.

7) ORAL CANCER SCREENING
We check that your tongue, lips, cheeks, skin and glands are healthy. We always perform a mouth cancer screening. Early detection increases the chance of survival – it can literally save your life.

8) TOOTH WEAR/ BITE
We examine the way your teeth bite together and ensure that there are no signs of excessive tooth wear. Bite Records may be done for looking at and recording how your teeth meet and move across each other – this is important in terms of the function of any new restorations we may provide.

9) JAW JOINTS
We check your jaw joints and muscles to ensure there are no abnormalities that could affect your ability to chew or could cause you discomfort.

10) X-RAYS
We take x-rays at regular intervals to be sure the areas inside, between and underneath your teeth are healthy. We also check that you have good bone levels to support your teeth.

Should any treatment be required, we promise to provide you with a clear written estimate and treatment plan. Future appointments can be tailor-made to suit your work requirements and can be as long or as short as suits you.

Dr. Senthil will always discuss any proposed treatment with you, as well as alternative options available, and will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Once you become a patient at Debenham Dental, we will typically ask you to attend an oral examination twice a year. These vital appointments are more than just ‘check-ups’ in the traditional sense of the word. We believe that by focusing on prevention and being proactive, we can identify problems at the earliest stages or even stop them occurring altogether. Our 10-point clinical assessments give you added peace of mind about your oral health, and can prevent unnecessary discomfort and expenditure in the future.

Payment for Treatment

Payment can be made by cash, Visa or Mastercard credit card or debit card or through a financial arrangement by which you can spread payments. We do not accept cheque. Should any appointments need to be changed then we require 48 hours notice to enable the appointment to be offered to another patient. Should this notice not be given then the practice may charge the cancelling patient for the time reserved for them, to offset our costs.
